During Covid-19, there were drastic changes in the New York City Transportation. In March 2020, New York State closed the Subway service from 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. for deep cleaning due to the Pandemic. This action affected all New Yorkers who used to go or come from work during that time. By middle April, subway ridership went down to 10% compared to previous months and years. There was a significant change between the months March-September of 2019 and 2020. This is being shown in the data below.

NEW YORK CITYBIKE HIGHWAY PROPOSAL

QUEENS, NEW YORK

After the research done in the Transportation area during and after Covid-19 in New York City, we decided to implement a system in which people would benefit from the closed streets and open restaurants that are happening right now. One of our thoughts is that people will opt to use the Subway more often because of all of the closed streets preventing parking. Therefore, we wanted to create a series of bike highways in which the community could travel from a Subway station to the Open Restaurants and vice-versa. We also wanted the community to travel with ease throughout these open restaurants by facilitating new bike routes and bike stations for those who desire to take a bike and enjoy the area or get to their desired location.
