This sample includes 1426 New York State Public School, 336 of these schools are located in DAC designated geographies.

This sample includes 104 schools in Rep. Paul Tonko’s district, 19 of these schools are located in DAC designated geographies.

Data Sources:

Asthma - SPARCS, age-adjusted annual average rate of emergency department visits per 10,000 people

Chronic Absenteeism - NYSED School Report Card, defined as missing 10% of school days within one academic year

Heat Vulnerability Index (HVI) - NYS Department of Health, ranges from 9 - 24. Heat vulnerability is how likely a person is to be injured or harmed during periods of hot weather.

Ventilation - from NYSED Building Condition Survey. Whether a particular school building contains ventilation system

Ducted Heating / Cooling - from NYSED Building Condition Survey. Whether a particular school building contains a ducted heating / cooling system
